A joint decision was made by the Ponderosa High School administration and a group of involved parents in the fall of 2005 to establish this corporation to engage in fundraising activities through the broad base of the general public in our local community.
The Ponderosa High School Football and Cheer Booster Club is a school-connected Corporation for the purpose of providing services and support to the school football and cheer athletic programs beyond the basic operational needs. One hundred percent (100%) of support and contributions to the corporation are received from the general public.
The Corporation also strives to bring to the parents/guardians and community a better understanding of the high school's football and cheer programs financial needs and provide events to help support athletic programs through tax deductible sponsorships and donations.
The organization was established as a nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation for charitable purposes in the state of California (23701d) on November 16, 2006 (Corporation number 2934029) and is not for the private gain of any person. The organization does not attempt to influence legislation, not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office. Additionally, the organization is not financially accountable to another organization.
In June of 2007, Ponderosa High School Football and Cheer Booster Club, dba The Bruin Den was recognized as a public charity 501(c)(3) corporation by the IRS, and California Franchise Tax Board. The corporation is an approved school-connected organization by the El Dorado Union High School District. The Bruin Den also carries an active business license of 2007-040121 with the County of El Dorado. The Bruin Den carries its own General Liability insurance license.
The organization's marketing activities are conducted by The Bruin Den Board of Directors and general membership. While some fundraising events may be held at off-site locations, the majority will be held during football and cheer related events, such as football games.
The nonprofit organization operates independent of Ponderosa High School and the El Dorado Union High School District, and exists to support the district and Ponderosa High School football and cheer programs through direct contributions such as money, equipment, building materials, and volunteer labor.
As a school-connected organization, the organization works with the principal or designee in establishing the types of services and/or support to be provided. The organization's funds and accounts are kept completely separate from student body accounts. Ponderosa High School personnel are not allowed to serve as officers in the organization. Ponderosa High School personnel are not allowed to sign organization bank accounts or invoices.
